About Spiritual Kindling
This site began in 2006 as a simple Bible blog on which I posted some of the many chapel talks I’ve given over the past 15 years. With each new posting, it has become a more extensive resource for those seeking to strengthen their Christian faith through prayer and reflection on the daily readings from the liturgical calendar. It has also become a convenient source of free material for busy preachers looking for ways to expand upon a theme they are developing for a sermon.
The site has hundreds of sermons on a wide range of topics written from the perspective of a layman with 16 years of training in theology, four years in philosophy and nearly 45 years of married life and work experience. New material is added each day with the hope that this spiritual kindling will shed new light on the Gospels and fan the flames of faith.
Spiritual Kindling differs from many devotional sites and blogs in that it includes weekday reflections as well as Sunday sermons. It also contains posts from other bloggers on topics related to the Gospels. And, there is an extensive archive of Bible verses and insightful quotes.
In addition to reflecting on the readings for any day in the liturgical calendar, you can search for a Bible verse or a reflection on a specific topic of interest to you. You’ll also find references to relevant books, Christian CDs, movies, inspirational artwork and religious articles and jewelry.
